The Song of Destiny 2: How to FInd God’s Will for Your Life
In the last post we laid the ground work for discovering God’s will for your life. In this and future posts we’ll explore each character role in discovering our destiny.
Shulamite- The Shulamite was a shepherd girl from Shunem who was betrothed to the love of her life who was also a shepherd. When Solomon was returning from his summer palace in Megiddo he aparently was taken by her beauty, and tried to woo her with promises of wealth, and security. When he was unsuccessful in his first attempt he took her to Jerusalem to try to overwhelm her with His regal splendor. [Read more →]

The Song of Destiny 1: How to FInd God’s Will for Your Life
I don’t know how many of you have ever read Song of Solomon, and gone, huh? If so, your not alone I have definitely never found it very helpful or even understandable. That was until one night as I was meditating on the phrase “dove’s eyes” from chapter 2 that God laid out the interpretation of Song of Solomon for me. To really understand what God showed me you have to understand different historical interpretations of Song of Solomon. [Read more →]

Leanna
Here is a poem I wrote some time ago for my daughter Leanna.
“Leanna”
A blonde haired cherub from up above
A tender rosebud I’ve grown to love
A gift so precious and unanticipated
A gift so needed as I’ve contemplated
Your heart is so sweet, so pure, so kind
Your countenance is brilliant and so is your mind
Your laughter is sweet like wild honey
Your hair is soft like a new born pony
Someday you’ll be a great woman of God
Someday others will follow the path you trod
That day will be great, O love of mine
But for now will you be my valentine

The Hopeless Romantic
Today as I was sorting my documents I ran across a couple poems I wrote about my wife Kathy, and my daughter Leanna. Here is the one I wrote for my wife.
“The Hopeless Romantic“
A hopeless romantic from birth till today
Searching for parts in “love drama’s” to play
Some “parts” seemed at best a comedy
Others plots even worse more like tragedy
To write a love story I could not though I tried
No happily ever after the lovers divide
When all hope of a story in my heart had died
God wrote a story where two worlds collide
These worlds were as different as night and day
But quickly we realized this was no mere “play”
The plotline was far from ideal in this play
The characters hadn’t really planned it this way
Opening night brought some mixed reviews
Some raved some offered opposing views
It soon became apparent God was doing something new
This show wasn’t closing despite any bad review
What was it about this story that made it so great?
Was it action, adventure, love, war or hate?
No it was something far greater a peculiar trait
Something missing in many stories of late
It’s not romance alone that makes an epic tale
Action, romance, adventure can all go stale
There is only element that makes an “ever after” tale
If you’re missing this element you surely will fail
The difference that made this love story so grand
Was the one who held the pen in His hand
An Author so infinite, holy, and grand
Wrote the greatest love story in all of the land

The Virtous Woman: Proverbs 31
This post is in honor of my beautiful, and godly wife who’s life inspires poetry in my soul. On occasion on the 31st day of the month as I’m reading Proverbs 31 I turn it into a poem about my wife and give it to her this is one that I wrote for her some time ago.
“A hymn to my wife”
Based on the life of Kathy my Proverbs 31 woman
A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than a diamond mine.
Her husband trusts her without hesitation,
and never has reason for lamentation.
No spite can be found in her mind or her tongue
She treats him generously her whole life long.
She shops for the best yarns and cotton
Her families clothing needs are never forgotten
She brings surprises from places faraway
She’s up before dawn, preparing her day
She always has an eye for investment
She saves, she plans, she makes every payment
First thing in the morning, she dresses for employment,
Getting things done brings her great enjoyment
She’s skilled in all the arts of homemaking
She’s quick to assist anyone who’s wanting
Her family always is nicely attired
Her fashion sense leaves nothing to be desired
Because of her character her husband is respected
Her godly example leads him to be promoted
When she speaks she has something to say,
and she always says it in the kindest way.
She keeps an eye on her entire dwelling
and keeps them all fruitful and hard-working
Her children respect and bless her grace
her husband joins in with words of praise:
Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all in everything
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
This woman should be admired and praised
This woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD.
Deserves your gifts, your glory, and laud
